Why build a SAAS business (SAAS software lesson 1)?
Looking at the SaaS Industry booming wrt Cloud Applications I saw an opportunity in 2015 to build a helpdesk software. Why helpdesk software – The market for helpdesk software is huge and with so many internet businesses there is a need for a good helpdesk software.
We started our journey of AzureDesk.co in 2015; & hardly knew anything about building a huge product. This is the story of how we build a huge product with no marketing acquisition cost & with the help of Microsoft BizSpark program. Ah! What’s that? (Keep Reading!)

There is always a notion about building a product & that is – You need to have budget of BMW Luxury Coupe 🙂 which is not quiet true. We were able to build the entire product with a shoe string budget of 50k & launch it within 18 months! To Build a SAAS product you need 3 things – platform for hosting, developers for coding & some credit cards:) Lets get into some details :
Platform for Hosting (
(SAAS software lesson 3)
I have always been a Microsoft fan so my obvious choice was to use Microsoft Cloud for hosting. In addition to this Microsoft also have great program for Start ups which is called as Microsoft BizSpark Program.
We applied for BizSpark membership & got it within a week. BizSpark membership gave us free access to all the software needed to build a great product and on top of that, Windows Azure monthly credits for development servers. Our entire software and hardware costs were eliminated with our BizSpark membership. Microsoft is a one stop shop for all the software and Cloud infrastructure needed to build any kind of world class software products. On top of it, Microsoft has so many marketing programs which allows you to market the products easily. When Customers hear that the product or solution is built on Microsoft platform, it really brings a sense of trust and reliability.
Lets talk about Team (
(SAAS software lesson 4)
We hired one developer from Upwork for writing website code. For web designing we got PSD designs from 99 designs for all the pages of AzureDesk. Since we were enrolled in Microsoft BizSpark we got a fantastic Cloud Infrastructure Azure and the tools needed to build a unique global product. I know AWS is popular but Azure is great simply because Microsoft also provide all the software tools along with the Virtual Machines hosted on Azure. So the entire website of AzureDesk is build using Microsoft ASP.NET (Fantastic tool),the integration service is entirely build using C# and the database is SQL Server. The entire site is running on 3 servers which cost 500$ per month. We also hired one full time developer from Greece who supports the application on day to day basis
Finally on November 1, 2016 AzureDesk was officially launched.:)
So there has been lot of things happening behind the scene before each step was finalized; After detail research & analyzing all the steps were taken & that’s how AzureDesk was made possible.
For all blog readers if you need a helpdesk software do remember to try AzureDesk for 14 days trial period. I bet you wont regret!
